Dust off your leather jackets, swivel your hips and *SCREAM!* as this October Ysgol Gyfun Emlyn takes you to a place far away. A place where hordes of screaming teenagers run wild through the streets, where anyone over thirty years old is ancient and the average smoking age is fourteen. This place, of course, is 1960’s suburban America!
When the hip-swivelling, lip-quivering, teen heartthrob superstar Conrad Birdie is drafted into the army, his manager, momma’s boy Albert Peterson, along with Albert’s secretary sweetheart, Rose Alvarez, come up with a final publicity stunt. As a goodbye present to the thousands of screaming fans, Conrad is to bestow ‘One Last Kiss’ upon one lucky girl, Miss Kim MacAfee. Of course, as soon as the idol steps foot into the town of Sweet Apple, Ohio, chaos ensues.
Will Albert and Rosie’s relationship survive the trip (and Albert’s mother)? Will the kids ever get over their Birdie obsession? Will the kiss even happen at all, if the town’s parents have anything to do with it? Find out in YGE’s production of ‘Bye Bye Birdie’- THE original rock ‘n’ roll musical!
Following last year’s successful production of ‘How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying’, we’ve all been working incredibly hard to make this year’s show even better! So join us for an evening of enthralling dance, toe-tapping songs and witty humour.
The production takes place on the 20th, 21st and 22nd of October. Tickets are available from the school office or phone the school on 01239 710 447.
We hope to see you there!
