Year 9 Visit to St Fagans
The Art department was fortunately awarded a grant through the Arts Council of Wales’ ‘Go and See’ fund for an educational visit to St Fagans in Cardiff which took place on Friday 29th November. This visit supported the learning of Year 9 pupils within their theme in Art of ‘Buildings’. Despite being a sunny but chilly day, many pupils thoroughly enjoyed strolling around photographing and sketching the many different types of Welsh architecture on display. Some marvelled at the thought that each building had been dismantled from where it originated from and has been rebuilt in the grounds of St. Fagans, including a chapel from Drefach Felindre. All of the buildings are also furnished according to their era and give a fabulous visual insight to the way people have lived through time. Pupils will now use the information they have gathered to develop their ideas and create a building in clay. The museum is free to enter and it was agreed by all that it was well worth a visit!
Ysgol Gyfun Emlyn would like to extend its thanks to the Arts Council of Wales and the National Lottery for their support.
