A month long photography festival called ‘Diffusion’ is currently taking over Cardiff. The Year 13 Photography students had the opportunity to attend the festival. 19 exhibitions were held all over the city. In one day the students visited 7 exhibitions around the city center. This was a great opportunity for the students to experience the city and exhibition spaces in Cardiff. The subject of the show was ‘Looking for America’ focusing on portrait and documentary photography. This photographic style is very relevant to the briefs the students are studying. Each student gained first hand research for their portfolios and ideas of how to present their work at the end of the year. Many students were surprised to discover all the different possible outcomes photography can be and they way disused buildings and shops can become a public gallery space.
Ysgol Gyfun Emlyn would like to thank all the staff at the Diffusion exhibition their guidance and information given.
