Harry Potter Experience
Early morning on Friday 5th April, 60 pupils from years 7, 8 and 9 met in the rain outside school at 6.45am. Despite the bus arriving late, everyone was in good spirits and excited for what the day would bring. Squished on bus for a long five hours is nobody’s idea of fun (especially teachers!) but everyone coped with the wide array of chatting, film watching and gaming that was on offer throughout the journey.
At 12.10pm we pulled off the M1 and saw the Harry Potter Experience sign in the distance. There was a buzz of excitement and a cheer as we got closer. Eager to get started on our day, we waited for our tour guide to explain what was ahead of us. Wristbands and Harry Potter passports distributed, we made our way to the foyer where a massive dragon loomed above us.
The day was truly amazing. The pupils had a fascinating insight into the making of the films. We were able to experience the iconic Great Hall and Diagon Alley, study the intricate costumes from the films, walk through the Forbidden Forest, and take pictures on a broomstick whilst playing quidditch!
What could be better? One thing – being able to preview the latest new addition to the experience – Gringotts Wizarding Bank, which was due to open officially the following day. An absolutely fabulous day was had by all.
