A group of Y13 A-level Business students recently took part in the very first Swansea Bay City Region live ‘Big Idea’ discussion with Sir Terry Matthews. The discussion was webstreamed on the morning of Thursday, 9th September 2015. In the studio, Sir Terry was joined on the panel by his Vice Chair Cllr. Meryl Gravell along with three students from University of Wales Trinity St David. The day was hosted by S4C presenter Arthur Emyr, who oversaw the discussion between the panel in the studio and the participating audience from schools and colleges across the City Region area. Ysgol Gyfun Emlyn pupils emailed questions into the studio about how they felt they may contribute to the future economy of the area, and were very keen to hear about Sir Terry’s ideas and his tales of how he has made it big in the world of business. Described as a Welsh-Canadian business magnate, serial high tech entrepreneur, Wales’ first billionaire, the owner of the Celtic Manor Resort, the man responsible for bringing the Ryder Cup and the NATO Summit to Wales, a Swansea University graduate and now Chair of the Swansea Bay City Region, Sir Terry Matthews shared his insight on how he feels the region should move forward and the part our young people can play in that future.
