More than 250 students, parents, staff, governors and guests packed into Ysgol Gyfun Emlyn’s school hall on Thursday, 13th September for our annual Prize Evening.  The purpose of the evening was to celebrate the success of our students who have excelled in school or sat external examinations during the last year.

The guest of honour was Mr Gareth Williams, Welsh Rugby Union 7’s and Under 20’s coach. After presenting students with their certificates and other awards, Mr Williamns gave an inspiring speech to students about the importance of hard work and making the most of all opportunities that you are presented with in life.

Students were presented with awards for outstanding attainment and outstanding effort in each subject area.  In addition to rewarding academic success, the evening also provided the opportunity to acknowledge excellence in other aspects of school life.  The Mayor of Newcastle Emlyn, Cllr Cefin Evans also presented awards for good attendance, sporting achievement and national honours.

Mr Hugh Thomas, Headteacher, would like to thank everyone who attended and the local businesses who sponsored the evening. It is always a special evening when we come together to celebrate the success of our pupils.
