A group of Years 7 and 8 pupils have recently been participating in football-themed reading and literacy sessions. The Premier League Reading Stars programme harnesses enthusiasm and passion for football and the high profile of the Premier League to develop a love of reading.

On February 6th, Josh Turnbull, a Wales International rugby player, came into school to talk to the group about sport and reading. Josh, an ex Ysgol Gyfun Emlyn pupil, answered pupil’s questions about his playing career and his time at school, which included questions about reading, his favourite subjects (and teachers) at school. Josh currently plays for the Cardiff Blues having joined them from the Scarlets in June 2014.

It was an enjoyable afternoon and we extend our thanks to Josh for coming in to talk to the pupils.
