Having been crowned South Wales champions back in January, Team Lightning travelled across the border over the half term holiday to compete in the FIRST Lego League England and Wales Finals.

The event was held at the University of the West of England Exhibition and Conference Centre, Bristol on Saturday, 22nd February and saw 70 different teams from across England and Wales competing. Our team, consisting of Eloise Jackson-Peck from year 9, Ernest Richardson-Laurens and Chloe Whitton from year 8, and Tomos Harrison and Oliver Phillips from year 7 had to complete various challenges during the day. This included a project presentation, a demonstration of the robot they created and its technical design, as well as showcasing their teamwork skills in a core values task. There was also a robot game where the team had to program their robot to complete various tasks in order to collect points.

The 5 Ysgol Gyfun Emlyn pupils performed admirably throughout the day, with the judges commenting on how well they had worked together to complete all aspects of the competition.
This was an invaluable experience for Team Lightning, who will hope to return to the competition again next year.
