Ysgol Gyfun Emlyn’s language ambassadors and AS students of French attended this year’s Languages Conference held at Swansea University on February 1st 2018. After an opening speech from Prof Mererid Hopwood and BBC news presenter Huw Edwards, our pupils enjoyed various talks and workshops organised around the campus.
Megan Wilson, Chantal Morris, Caitlin Stone, Ella Wilbraham, Daisy Berry, Jasmine-Haf Davies, Jakub Rutkowski and Rhys Schofield took part in a Q&A session with Huw Edwards, had a taster session in Mandarin and attended a talk on French in the work place. 44 schools were present and Emlyn came first in the quiz organised by Routes into Languages.
Meanwhile, our 6th formers – Katie Jones, Jessica Ludgate, Ella Smith, Molly Smith and Hugo Poulain – had the opportunity to participate in workshops on how to tackle the different aspects of their exam.
All students had an enjoyable and inspiring day, coming back to school with plenty to organise.
