On the same day, Year 12’s received a talk from Mr James Brennan from Cardiff Met University in preparation for attending the UCAS event in Carmarthen.  He outlined the process of applying to university and some helpful information on getting the most from an event where over 70 universities are providing information on what they offer.  All pupils attended this event on Tuesday 17th March at University of Wales Trinity St David in Carmarthen and gained valuable information on the different options available to them at University level helping them decide on their future education choices.

On Monday 19th March a group of Year 12 students attended a conference organised by the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge at the Liberty Stadium, Swansea.  The conference provided the best opportunity for students to find out more about the universities, from comparing and contrasting the courses they offer and the admissions procedures, through to talking with current undergraduates, lecturers and admissions tutors in a variety of subjects.  They attended sessions on specific degree courses as well as the application procedure, how to succeed at interview and what student life is really like at the top universities.  Students could also look into future career pathways and what support is available to them with student finance.
