To commemorate the national day of France on Thursday 14th July Ysgol Gyfun Emlyn celebrated all things French.

In a quiz devised by Matthew Parsons, Epiphany Railton, Genevieve Robinson and Eleri Denton, the school’s Language Ambassadors, students and staff were tested on their knowledge of France and its culture. These committed Francophiles came up with some challenging questions for their fellow pupils and teachers to answer.  The winners amongst the pupils were Amy Wilson, Logan Christie, Brandon Farmer and Harvey Bourne from 8G and Jarrah Farkash, Barry-John Davies, Nathan Thomas and Luke Edwards from 9T. As for the staff, ‘félicitations’ to Mr Richard Evans who excelled in his knowledge of all aspects of French life.

Mr O`Sullivan`s morning assembly gave us the historical background of Bastille Day and provided an answer to the question – ‘exactly why were the French revolting’?

All this and, at break time, a delicious French breakfast, giving Emlyn students a chance to sample some of the food that makes France famous.

Bravo, tout le monde!
