Several of our key stage 3 pupils have taken part in the John Muir Award.  The aim of this project was to encourage the young people to enjoy learning whilst being in a natural environment.  The pupils completed four challenges:  discover a wild place; explore its wildness; take some personal responsibility; share your experiences.

The young people explored different areas in our community, while learning about natural habitats and wildlife.  They also identified trees and animals, planted flowers and made fat ball feeders for the birds and placed them around the castle grounds.  The pupils cleaned in the local charity shops, as well as maintaining the school garden.
