On Friday the 4th of March Ysgol Gyfun Emlyn held its 2016 Eisteddfod. The hall was full of pupils, excited to engage in the annual combat for victory among the houses! Emlyn, Iscoed and Gwynionydd started competing for the best band, followed by the solo, duet, recitation and sketch competitons, among others. Emlyn won the offstage competitions trophy, and Gwynionydd won onstage. Gwynionydd also won the Festival Choir prize, and ultimately the whole Eisteddfod.

The literary prizes (chairs) were awarded to Tiffany Edmonds of Iscoed for her intricate Welsh poem on the theme ‘Gwe’ in which she explored the idea of an invisible presence or ‘web’ connecting all things. Hari Thomas of Gwynionydd was awarded a chair (theme: The Future) for his personal and lucid poem relating the story of his life and hopes for the future.
