Dyfed Cross Country

On Wednesday 7th March two Emlyn pupils represented Dyfed at the Welsh Cross country Championships held at Penlan Playing fields in Brecon.  Eight districts were represented on the day: Afan Nedd Tawe, Cardiff & Vale, Dyfed, Eryri, Glamorgan Valleys, North East Wales, Powys and South East Wales with each fielding up to 12 athletes per age group per race.  Each district had held qualifying selection races for the right to battle it out against other school pupils across Wales.  All sort of weather conditions were experienced, from sunshine to rain and hail mixed in half way through.

Emma Brazier competed in the Year 7 girls’ race and came 29th overall in a fantastic time of 13.19, helping her team top the table. Lewis Jackson-Peck competed in the Junior boys’ race and finished in a time of 16.20 to come 36th out of over 70 runners and like Emma helping his team secure first place.  Dyfed achieved 3rd place overall. Well done to both.
